Privacy policy

This policy explains what MyShopGuard collects, why, and what we do with it. We have written it in plain language because it is meant to be read.

What we collect

When you create an account and use the app, we hold:

• Your account details: your name and phone number, and your PIN stored as a one-way hash. We cannot read your PIN, and neither can anyone else.
• Your shop records: shop name, currency, products and prices, stock received, sales, adjustments, stock counts and cash checks.
• Your staff details: the name, phone number and hashed PIN of each staff member you add.
• Customer names and phone numbers that you choose to enter when you record a credit sale.
• Invoice photos you take with the invoice scanner, and the items read from them.
• Payment records: which plan you are on, the amount, the date and the Paystack reference. We never see or store your card details.

We do not use advertising trackers, we do not build profiles for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Why we hold it

To run the service you signed up for: keeping your stock and sales records, comparing them so we can show you what is missing, letting your staff record sales, and billing your subscription. That is the whole purpose.

Who else processes it

We use a small number of providers, and only for the jobs listed here:

• Paystack handles subscription payments. Your card details go to Paystack directly and never reach us.
• OpenAI reads supplier invoice photos, and only when you use the invoice scanner on the Pro plan. The photo and the items read from it are sent for that single purpose. If you never use the scanner, no photo of yours is ever sent anywhere.
• Our hosting and database provider stores the data so the app can run.

Your customers' information

When you record a credit sale in a customer's name, you decide what to enter. That information belongs to your business and you are responsible for it, including telling your customers if they ask. Only enter what you need in order to collect the debt, and keep in mind that your staff can see the customer name on a sale they record.

Who can see your data

You can see everything in your own shops. Staff you add can only record sales: they cannot see your dashboard, profit, problems, reports, stock levels or cash checks. Other shop owners can never see your data. Our team does not read your shop records except when you ask us for help with a specific problem, or where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Letting a subscription lapse does not delete anything: your records wait for you. If you want your account and its data deleted, email hello@myshopguard.com.ng and we will delete it within 30 days, apart from payment records we must keep for accounting.

Security

The app is served only over HTTPS. PINs are hashed, sessions are signed, and every request is checked so one shop can never read another's data. Invoice photos are private to the shop that uploaded them. No system is perfect, so please use a PIN nobody can guess and never share it, not even with your staff, who have their own logins.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Most of it you can also change yourself in the app. Write to hello@myshopguard.com.ng and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

MyShopGuard is for business use and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app.
